Welcome to The Upstate South Carolina Recreation Map. This is a map of upstate South Carolina that covers an area of this state and neighboring NC and GA. The map attempts to bring you the areas the residents of "The Upstate" so often escape to in order to enjoy the great outdoors. On it you will find waterfall locations, boat ramps, state and local parks, national forests, heritage preserves, historical points of interest, Clemson's Experimental Forest, lakes, rivers and a wealth of other information that will aid in planning and finding your adventure. So grab your hiking boots and your GPS and get out there.

I realized a while ago that there were a lot of county wide maps of roads and rough waterfall locations, but not much that covered the area of SC, NC, and GA where the foothills meet the mountains. This is the area I always thought about when I would plan a weekend outing. I started thinking about the extent I would travel and started drawing the area out. The results fell so nicely on a 1:100K scale map that I could hardly believe it. I was able to fit Greenville, Clemson, Clayton, Highlands, Cashiers, Franklin, Toccoa, Table Rock, Caesars Head, Clemson's Experimental Forest, Hwy 11 and so many other beautiful areas on one sheet. I began laying out the map and researching and drawing and the result of months of research and work is the map you see before you. I feel like I was able to fit a lot of information on one map to give the user a valuble tool to take with them on their outdoor recreational outings. I have tried to put my own experience and flavor into this map so look it over and enjoy. I also put a Lat/Long grid on the map to help the map be compatible with the many Recreational GPS units that are being used these days.

This is the map's first edition. There is so much that could go on this map and always more information that can be added. My hope is that this beginning will be the first step in additional editions. If I hear of interest, I may print the second edition on waterproof stock, but again, one step at a time.

I would love to get feedback and stories about how this map does or does not help you the user. Please let me know how I can make this map better for any future editions. I look forward to hearing from the maps users as well as find out what other kind of maps or areas you would like to see mapped.

Thank you,
